Well I spent the past two weeks putting most of them to the test, and here I present you the surefire results of the most wacky beauty tips, that actually work! Some may sound familiar and some you probably never heard of before. Either way, you should give these tips a try!
Wacky Beauty Tip 1: Aspirin will help eliminate dandruff
Got some flakes in your scalp? People have been resorting to this remedy for decades. But what they dont know is the reason why this is just as effective as a dandruff shampoo; if not better! Aspirin's main active ingredient is acetylsalicylic acid, which is also a common ingredient in most dandruff shampoos. Acetylsalicylic acid is also an astringent and this is what assists with the removal of the dead skin on your scalp. Astringents shrink dead body tissue and bind lively tissue, therefore any flakes that may be ready to lift off of your scalp, the aspirin will rid the flakes, and mend your remaining tissue, ultimately preventing any further flaking.
A common home recipe suggests that you dissolve 10-12 aspirin tablets into one cup of warm water. Wet your hair thoroughly, apply shampoo, rinse well and squeeze out excesses moisture. Pour the dissolved aspirin on your scalp and massage gently into the dandruff plagued areas. Leave on your scalp up to 10 minutes for best results. Rinse well. Finish with a cool/cold rinse. Apply any leave in conditioners and style.
Wacky Beauty Tip 2: Powder Your Roots
Dusting your roots with baby powder can be a temporary remedy for oily hair! Using a big fluffy makeup brush, dip it into some baby powder and tap off any excess powder. Gently dust it over your roots, and the talc in the baby powder will mop up the oil in your strands and then blend in with your hair.
Wacky Beauty Tip 3: Use Toothpaste for Zits and Skin Rashes
When it comes to toothpaste , there are many uses for it other than fighting plaque on your pearly whites. Apply toothpaste to a zit for about 15 minutes, and the menthol fumes will absorb the oils from it, allowing it to become unclogged and speeding up it's dissapearing act.
As for rashes, mint (found in toothpaste) has been known a herb of many, many cures. In many third world countries, mint leaves are used to relieve swelling and stop foreign rashes. Applying toothpaste to a rash or pesky bug bite will block the histamine from reproducing, prevent it from spreading, and will cool the designated surface.
Wacky Beauty Tip 4: Mix Bronzing Powder and Body Lotion For a Luminous Glow
Don't have time for a tanning session? Mixing loose bronzing powder with your body lotion will give you that beach glow in seconds!
Wacky Beauty Tip 5: Eye-Makeup Remover Running on Empty? Use Olive Oil
Out of eye makeup remover? Not a problem. Dab a little olive oil on a cotton swab or tissue and smear away. It even removes waterproof mascara just as efficiently as the store-bought variety. You may find you love it enough to buy a cute storage bottle so you can keep it in the bathroom rather than dragging the big container out of the kitchen every night.
Wacky Beauty Tip 6: Don't Just Swim or Tan at The Beach...Exfoliate!
Sand is Mother Nature's prime exfoliator, and we all know that at the beach there is plenty to go around. Next time you're at the beach and sitting on the shore line; take the opportunity to exfoliate your legs and body with sand and ocean water. You'll walk out a brand new woman!
Wacky Beauty Tip 7: Eat Strawberries for Whiter Teeth
Strawberries are a well-known remedy for whitening teeth. They contain malic acid, which is a natural stain remover. You can rub the strawberries directly on your teeth or mash them into a paste and brush them on. Leave the paste on your teeth for about five minutes then rinse well and smile.
Wacky Beauty Tip 8: Got Sunburn? Need Some Shine in Your Hair? Break Out the Vinegar.
If you laid out in the sun too long and got some serious sunburn, or any burn for that matter; applying white distilled vinegar is an instant solution. Although very smelly, white vinegar will cool and absorb the heat out of any burn and will boost the healing process.
For shiny hair, after shampooing but before conditioning, mix white distilled vinegar (1 part vinegar, 3 parts water) with cool water and pour evenly through hair. Massage through strands, root to tip and then rinse out thoroughly. Follow with conditioner.
Wacky Beauty Tip 9: Get Longer Lasting Nailpolish With a Chill
Store your nailpolish in the refrigerator and it will last much longer than keeping it at room temperature.
Wacky Beauty Tip 10: Think Cold Showers Feel Nice? Well, Shower Warm To Stay Squeeky Clean
Regardless of how high the temperature may rise, you should always stay away from "cold" showers. If you take cold showers you won't "clean" yourself. Its best to take hot showers to kill the germs and organisms that may be brewing on your skin. But of course you can always blast yourself with cold water at the end!
Bonus Tip: Peppermint Says Goodbye to Puffy Eyes
Placing peppermint flavored teabags on your eyes, will reduce the appearance of puffiness and dark circles.
