MAC Dame Edna :: December 26, 2008 (January 2009 Int'l)
Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 02:36PM
“Hello possums!” Dame Edna Everage is in the house! With her zesty zingers, over-the-top appearance - lilac hair (which she claims is natural), bedazzled specs, fanciful frocks - there’s nothing like a Dame! The alter ego of brilliantly wicked Aussie comedian, Barrie Humphries, and the resident muse for our post-holiday make up collection, Dame Edna thinks of herself as “probably the most popular and gifted woman in the world today: housewife, investigative journalist, social anthropologist, talk-show host, swami, children’s book illustrator, spin doctor, megastar and icon.” With packaging as mirthful and minx-like as the Legend herself, the Dame Collection of heavy-on-the-lilac Lipstick/Lipglass, Eye Shadow, Highlight Powder and Nail Lacquers is in a class by itself!

MAC Chill :: January 2009 (February 2009 Int'l)
Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 02:20PM
Ice the competition. The temperature drops, predictability plummets, but a new beauty barometer sets the tone with light snowflake lips, twinkle shimmer shades with opalescent pearl. Cool neutral eyes suddenly combust, then go up in smoke, with new Penultimate Eye Liner for the deepest velvet black. New 41 Lash with criss-cross design for a luxe, longer look. Two Reflects Glitter for a limited time, a hot new cool. Just chill.

MAC Lash and Dash :: December 26th, 2008 (Int’l January 2009)
Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 02:07PM
Brows will balk, shadows surrender, as the Mighty Lash assumes its pre-eminent place! The chic and sophistication of the new: introducing the 42 Lash, diagonally designed for a hard-edged, rocker look (you know who you are)... and the Blinking Cool! Lash, wispy yet dramatic, in separate bunches with lots of curl for an innocent ’60s look. Chelsea Girl glamour, Carnaby Street kick. All this and Hollywood, too: our bestseller lineup of can’t-live-without lashes flutters and favours its fans, and all the it-girls who love them.

When Cosmetics Brands Get Naughty
Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 12:02PM
What is it about makeup that us feel gorgeous, powerful and many times even sexual? Is it the fact that it accentuates and highlights our best features and disguises our flaws? Or perhaps, it's the fact that some of our cult-favorite beauty items have SEX written all over them...litterally!
How close do you pay attention to the names of the shades you choose when picking out a lipstick or blush? Well if they had anything to say about our personalities, I guess by the list below you would consider me nothing less than a sex fiend! But seriously, how closely are you paying attention to the names of shades that go on your face?

Get Gorgeous :: Word of Mouth Frosty Greys
Sunday, October 26, 2008 at 05:04PM
Looks don't always have to be dramatic to make an impact. This is a quick and simple look I did using the Word of Mouth mineralized trio eyeshadow from Red She Said.

In this look the following was used:
- FACE: MAC Prep+Prime, MAC Full Coverage Foundation, Urban Decay Surreal Skin Mineral Makeup, Lorac Double Perfection Concealer
- CHEEKS: MAC Stark Naked Blush (LE), MAC Mineralize Skinfinish - Petticoat (LE), MAC Mineralize Skinfinish - Lightscapde (LE)
- EYES: Urban Decay Primer Potion, MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow Trio - Word of Mouth (LE), MAC Pearlglide Eyeliner - Spare Change (LE), L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara
- LIPS: MAC Cremesheen Lipstick - Creme d' Nude (LE), MAC Lipglass - Cherry Blossom (LE)
- BRUSHES: MAC 239 (fluffy eyeshadow brush), MAC 249 brush (dense shader brush), MAC 224 (blending/crease brush), MAC 187 (stippling brush), MAC 188 (stippling brush)
Directions:
FACE - Prep face with moisturizer followed by MAC Prep+Prime. Apply concealer in troubled areas such as under-eye, nose, and blemish spots. With a makeup sponge apply MAC Full Coverage to face and blend. Set MAC Full Coverage with Urban Decay Surreal Skin Mineral Powder
EYES - Using a 249 brush apply Urban Decay Primer Potion all over the lid and allow to set. Follow with a 239 brush and apply the lighter side of Word of Mouth all over the lid. Sweep the 224 brush over the gray side of Word of Mouth and apply to lid crease. Blend the crease repeatedly while defining the outer-v. Using MAC Pearlglide eyeliner in Spare Change, line the upper lash line. Finish with several coats of mascara on the upper and lower lids.
CHEEKS - Using a 187 brush, apply MAC Stark Naked blush to cheek contour. Then with the same brush, sweep MAC Mineralize Skinfinish - Petticoat over the apples of the cheeks. Take 188 brush and sweep MAC Mineralize Skinifinish - Lightscapade under the eye area and up towards the hairline and blend -- this will serves as your face highlighter.
LIPS - Apply MAC Cremesheen Creme d' Nude lipstick to lips and top with MAC Lipglass in Cherry Blossom.

MAC Passions of Red :: Product Photos
Friday, October 24, 2008 at 12:14PM
With Passions of Red I picked up one palette of each; a shadow palette and a lip palette. Now I usually don't get along well with lip palettes but I thought I would give this one a try.
The aluminum casing is embossed in a snakeskin texture and presented lavish faux jewel at the center. The eye palettes come with six shadow colors and the lip palettes come with three colors (two lipstick options and one gloss).
